Miss Lena Ashwell

Image

I always enjoy researching now-forgotten Edwardian actresses and finding surprising information about them. Lena Ashwell, pictured here on a postcard in bookmark format, was born on a ship moored in the River Tyne. She is most remembered as one of the first to set up entertainment for troops, which she did at the front in WWI.
