Miss Gertie Millar

Gertie Millar was from Bradford, not far from where I grew up in Leeds and was the daughter of fairly humble mill workers. Remarkably, after her first husband died, she remarried into the aristocracy and became Lady Dudley. During her career as a music hall actress, she was one of the most famous faces on postcards and even did a stint on Broadway.

Great image. Gertie looks fun but I bet the boy’s dressing room was a pretty lively place!

Gertie distracted me from the Sepia Saturday post, so I had to come take a look. She looks absolutely charming and beautiful.
